published Feb 11, 09: Wal-Mart wants to expand in Owen Sound
The top one I did after local council deferred the vote. Apparently most council are opposed to it. But I bet it goes through anyway, sooner or later. The bottom two I did when I assumed it would go through right away. If the cart ain't leading the horse already when it comes to the relationship between big business and government, it soon will be...

It would be nice if this was they way it actually was. In fact, based on Obama's recent visit to Canada, it sounds like, "because of these troubled economic times blah blah blah," that Obama is going to be more like the real Harper than Harper is going to be like the hyped image of Obama.
I guess the Republican/Conservative plan is working nicely. Want more evidence? Hilary Clinton has apparently said that we can't be worrying about China's bad human rights at this time. So it's business as usual... the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, the oppressors get more powerful and the oppressed... well they just keep getting oppressed.

published Jan. 7, 2009: Harper on Junior (and vice/versa)
I couldn't help but notice Harper in attendance at the Junior World Championship tournament. He was trying to look all casual and normal. Never seems to be able to pull that one off. Anyway, I guess this is one of the ways you can kill some time while your government is Perogued or Perogied or whatever the hell they call it. Good P.R., too, I guess.
Anyway, I'm glad Canada won.... again. But I couldn't help thinking of the irony. We beat Sweden in the final.... on the other hand they are amongst the top countries in the world for taking care of its young.... Canada?... Well, we don't even come close to the medal round.... in fact we are in danger of being relegated to a lower level. So, Mr. Harper, I ask you, what's really important and where the hell are you when it comes to lending support for things that really matter?
